Evan on set for Daniel Bolda’s feature film “MALDIVES”

Evan Maragkoudakis is an award winning cinematographer from Athens Greece.

After acquiring his LLM from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and completing his internship, he decided to set aside his career in law, and pursue the path that he always daydreamed about in between courts and legal paperwork.

From 2010, he has created work for various companies, music artists as well as narrative work. He was selected by ARRI Academy, to attend the Lighting Fundamentals Masterclass with Chief Light Technician, Morris Flam (The Black Swan, The Tourist, I Am Legend). He was also selected by iMEdD at Stavros Niarchos Cultural Foundation, to attend a documentary seminar by Yorgos Avgeropoulos in 2020.

In 2020, he contributed to Nike’s global campaign #youcantstopus, as a photographer. The Ad was selected “Ad of The Year” by Adweek.

In 2021, he was selected by the Hellenic Center of Photography to attend a Visual Storytelling course with Myrto Papadopoulou.

In 2022, his latest narrative short, “ON XERXES THRONE” won the Prix Canal+ at Semaine De La Critique, Festival De Cannes, directed by Evi Kalogiropoulou. The film went on to win various awards at prestigious film festivals around the globe such as the AFI Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, Kinemastik Film Festival, Tirana Film Festival and also win the Vinko Filac Cinematography Award at the Kunstendorf Film Festival.

Since then, Evan has shot 2 feature films, “BUZZHEART” by internationally acclaimed director Dennis Iliadis, “MALDIVES” by Daniel Bolda, a handful of commercials for brands like GOOGLE, BALMAIN, BETANO, MISSONI, MASTERCARD and various short form narratives and music videos.

On June of 2024, Evan was selected by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) to enroll in a Masterclass by Academy awarded winning cinematographer, Robert Elswit ASC (There Will Be Blood, Nightcrawler, Magnolia, Boogie Nights) in Los Angeles, California.

Evan is also a Trial Member of the Greek Society of Cinematographers (GSC).
